Things You should know about me

My name is Jasmine I am a 10 year old girl and here
are some things I want you to know about me.

• My favorite subject is reading/ art
• I love most sports
• I like making new friends
• 1 thing that i need help with at school is math.

Genius hour

the past few weeks we have been working on our genius hour, and this is mine:
Olympic sports

Speach: pollution

Have you ever wondered how much pollution goes into the ocean every single
year?.......The answer is 10.5 million tons of plastic waste. 

So the world needs our help so that the water stays clean and the animals
stay healthy and we can only help the ocean by stopping pollution. But this is
only the beginning first it starts with the ocean. then it goes to the air/the
look and smell, then it turns into serious soil pollution which affects the
plants and trees, and a little while after the earth turns into a wasteland!.
And this could all possibly happen between 10-12 years! Do you really want
that to happen to the world? And as I said before it starts with polluting
the ocean. 

Have you ever looked on the street and seen all the rubbish and wasted
reusable items? I have and I don't know if anyone really pays any attention
to it and were the rubbish goes. everyone just thinks it goes into the ocean
but that's not true it goes way more places than that like lands in birds nests
and wild animals homes. and the thing that happens next is that they eat the
garbage because they don't know what it is. then sooner or later they will die
from eating plastic and that species will no longer exist.

I chose this topic because of a lot of different reasons  but the biggest
reason is that it's a big problem in our world that needs to be stopped.

And I've researched something that will really help my speech, and that is
that there's a such thing as electronic pollution! Electronic pollution is one of
the many types of pollution but worse it can sometimes affect human health
so
it can kind of be hazardous.

Electronic pollution is the form of pollution caused by the discarded electrical
or electronic devices Informal processing of waste in developing countries can
lead to adverse human health and affecting environmental pollution.

And there are also many other types of hazardous pollution like:

• Radioactive pollution 
• air Pollution 
• Visual Pollution 

• (exetra)
  And they probably all mean what you think they mean.
  So basically what im trying to say is that we are the environment and if we pollute were hurting our health.
  I also made a poem about pollution:
  Roses are red violets are blue 
  I hate polluting and you should too
  The world needs are help And don't ask why
  We need to stop polluting 
  for some reason people “sigh” (besides if we sigh were letting the world die)
  Don't be like that its for a good cause 
  I'll just ignore you it will even the scores(like 2, 4, 6, 8 don't let this be our fate)
  But listen to me this is a good thing 
  we need to keep the oceans clean
  
  
  Just a second before i'm done
  Pick up your trash it's not ok to run
  So be aware of what's happening around you.
  I hope this speech was inspiring to you in some way.

my advertisement

This week for our persuasive writing we had to make our own advertisement. 
I chose to do mine on hope for paws & SPCA so people can choose to help give the animals homes.

experiment lab report(water cycle)

this week we made another lab report and this ones about the water cycle!
and here's my lab report.

Water cycle experiment

Materials:

• plastic bag
• marker
• water
• blue food coloring
• Tape
• a warm sunshiny area to put the plastic bag or tape it to a window that gets lots of sunshine

How we did it:

First: we got handed a plastic bag.

Second: we got a marker and drew on the bag the cycle of rain.

Third: then we went over to the teacher and she filled are plastic bags up(1 centimeter) with water.

Fourth: we went back over to the teacher and she did about two or three drops of blue food

coloring in the bag and the color magically transformed.

Fiffed:we sealed it up and made sure we left a tiny*tiny bit of air in it.

Sixed: then we got a bit of tape and stuck it on the window.

The change i saw was that it was becoming foggier and foggier each day some even foggier

then the others.

When you look really close you notice that it kind of starts to look like a geyser exploding out

of nowhere. But not everyone's turned out like a beautiful exploding geyser but it was still pretty.

• Day one observations: it wasn't really forming at first but i could see it coming.
  
• Day two observations: it was finally working and i really happy. Some of others was
• working as well they all look super cool.
  
• Day three observations:its become more steamier and blurry and same with everyone
• else's.
  
• Day four observations:I think it's reached the point where it looks like a bunch of clouds
• shining down on the middle of nowhere

they all dont look that bad, they look kind of cool actually. But of course there's only one that

formed the most and one that formed the least. I don't think mine formed the least but it definitely

wasn't the most. I think mine actually formed second to least or third to least.

The word Evaporation means:the process of something abstract ceasing to exist.

The word Condensation means:the conversion of a vapor or gas to a liquid.

The word Precipitation means the: rain, snow, sleet, or hail that falls to or condenses on the ground.

experiment lab report

last week we were experimenting and here is my lab report.

what will happen when we add water, vegetable oil, food coloring and Alka seltzer tablet.(i thought it was going to overflow)

        materials

• Plastic cup
• Paper towel
• Vegetable oil
• water
• dye
• Alka-seltzer table

How it happen:

First: we watched a video of what happens when we mix water, vegetable oil, food coloring and alka seltzer tablet.

Second: then the teacher placed the paper towel on the ground in four places.

Third: the teachers placed the plastic cup on top of the paper towel.

Fourth: then the teachers poured water into the cup.

Fift: next was the oil, as it got poured into the water it started fizzing a lot and tiny air bubbles started to form.

Sixed: then the teachers added the food coloring and it started slowly sinking to the bottom.

Last: when they added the alka seltzer tablet everything started to  change. It was like a colorful lava lamp.

the water and the oil were fizzing together. Then suddenly it stop. And all you could see was that the oil and the water was separated. Once they put the food coloring in the cup the drops started slowly sinking into the oil but didn't go any further then the bottom of the oil. Last but not least they put the alka seltzer tablet in once it touched the oil cup it started fizzing and fizzing and fizzing, i thought it was going to overflow the cup but luckily it didn't. Everything started to finally mix together like a lava lamp. It was so SPARKLY.

There were four groups and they each got one cup one of them got red food coloring and two of them got blue and the last one got green. I got one of the blue. Once they put the food coloring in my groups one it turns out that my groups one was the slowest to reach the bottom. And when the teacher put the alka seltzer tablet in everyone's acted the same. With an EXPLOSION!

It is probably the most confusing experiment we've done so far and the prettiest.

The thing that i learned was that what waters made up of are more attractive to each other then oil.

If i use a different type of oil will it still work?

What would happen if we used all the colors and put them all together?

(It would probably turn brown and turn out like sparkly co-cola)

PS: weave done more experiments before.

my holidays

I didn't really do much in the holidays but here's what i did do:

I stayed at my nana's house for two nights. The next day I went to see a movie called dumbo. The last day i was there we went to see the movie wonder park.
I had a sleepover. In the morning we went horse riding. The horse i was on was called Golden. After the sleepover I went horse riding two more times. One the day after the horse that i was riding on was called Watson. The third one I rid on a horse named Kensie. On Saturday night i had a BBQ and my friends came over and left at 11 o'clock PM. On the second week on Tuesday i went to school holiday program. On the second week of the holidays in the weekends i went to my nana and grandad's Diamond harbor house. I went on the fairy i go on the fairy every time i go to the Diamond Harbor house. In the morning we went to Hamner Springs. We went to the hot pools and i went on the white water slide mostly.

Hi i'm jasmine i'm a year 6 student at parkview parua primary school starting my blog this week.
my birthday is the 14th of may

My favorite actives/things to do are:

-baking

-painting/drawing

-swimming

-dance

-netball

-biking
They're 6 of the things I am good at and i love.

Next year instead of doing netball(i have already done netball for 3 years)I want try football and maybe during high school ill try rugby.its good to try new things

Just recently last term we went on school camp it was RM's 10,11 and 16 who went it was really fun there was things to do like stair way to heaven i got the highest score in the group witch was 17 and the was kayaking and sky sailing and team building and last is Frisbee golf.
